December 21-25, 2014—4th Sunday of Advent & Christmas
PARISH
CALENDAR
The Lord be with you!
Dear people of Sacred Heart & St. Cecilia’s,
May GOD give YOU a most Blessed 4th Sunday
of Advent, as well as, a Holy & Merry Christmas!—
which we will celebrate Wednesday eve and Thursday.
In these hours ahead—just as when every child
is born into the world, we now quickly rush from the
anticipation of what is going to happen to the joy of
celebrating the miracle of Life. In this moment of time
[where Advent ends and Christmas begins] we celebrate
that our long awaited Savior, GOD’s own son is born of
the Virgin Mary. Whether we read this message during
the last hours of Advent or the early hours of
Christmas—indeed, “GOD is with us.”
Giving Glory to GOD—we celebrate how Christ
JESUS has come to show us with His very life, the way
to the Father. This is what we have been waiting for,
and this unimaginable event in history sets forth the first
lesson from JESUS our Lord. By His humble birth in a
stable for the sheltering of animals, He shows us that our
way to the Heavenly Father begins with humility.
With the humbleness of the shepherds who
watched their flocks that first Christmas Night, we seek
to join our voices with the angels who sang out, “Glory
to GOD in the highest and peace to His people on earth.”
When we are able to enter this sacred moment of
joy and awe, we are struck by both the power and gentle
mercy of GOD.
St. Paul explained to Titus 3:4-7, in the 2nd
reading from the Christmas Mass at Dawn—“When the
kindness and generous love of GOD our savior
appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had
done but because of His mercy, He saved us through the
bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He
richly poured out on us through JESUS Christ our
savior, so the we might be justified by His grace and
become heirs in hope of eternal life.”
Let us pray with joy for one another as we all
anticipate GOD’s coming more profoundly into our lives
and the lives of every human person, from this day
forward.
Immanuel—GOD with us, give us deeper
faith these final days of Advent, and through the
Christmas Season. Help us to personally know and
love Your SON, so that our lives, everyday, will sing
out, “Glory to GOD in the highest and peace to His
people on earth!”
