Catholic Voice for December is in the Church Porch
First Holy Communion Preparation will begin in January in the Sacred Heart
School, Broomfield Avenue, after classes one afternoon a week. Please would
parents let me know if they would like their children, whether in the Sacred Heart
School or in any other local school, to receive First Holy Communion next summer.
Childrens’ Liturgy The children are invited into the Church Hall after Mass on

Sunday 14 December for an hour to make Church decorations for Christmas.
2015 Diocesan Year Book available in the Church Porch. Price £1.50 (cost to
Parish is £3 per copy).

Ecumenical Carols in the Town Hall this Sunday 30 November from 3.15pm –
4pm. Broomfield School and Applegarth School will be taking a prominent part in
the singing of Carols, and Sacred Heart children are invited to join in with them. All
Welcome. Apparently Santa Claus arrives in the Town at 2pm and Fireworks let
off at 4.30pm !

School and Parish Carol Service in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday 17
December at 6.00pm followed by refreshments in the Church Hall at 6.40pm. A
presentation to Mrs McGouran will be made to thank her for all the wonderful work
she has done in our school over the course of the past 7 years.
Christmas Smartie Tube Parish Fundraiser Please could any remaining

Smartie Tubes be returned on or before December 25 and placed into the “Noel”
Box in the Church Porch under the wooden bench. If possible please gift aid your
donation by using the gift aid label, as it gives the Parish an extra 25p for each
pond donated. Thank you for your kind support..
Christmas Stamps/Religious Stamps When buying Christmas stamps, please
ask for those which reflect the religious meaning of Christmas. If we don’t show
that there is a demand for these, the Post Office will gradually stop printing them in
another step towards ignoring what Christmas means for believers.

Today’s Gospel reminds us to remember that our lives together will not go on for
ever. It is therefore so important to thank God every day for the wonderful gift that
we are to each other, indeed one of the greatest gifts that the Father has given us.
