CAKE SALE TODAY!
St Luke’s youth group will be having a youth weekend away in February. Youth
weekends are a great opportunity for young people to enjoy fellowship together
whilst also learning more about God. We are currently raising money for the
weekend so we can pay a guest speaker from YFC to lead the teaching sessions and
after today’s service, you are invited to buy some delicious homemade cake in the
Community Room. Raising money will also help subsidise costs and make the
weekend more affordable for the young people and their families. Please support us
by buying some cake!
CAFÉ CHURCH
At tonight’s Café Church at Greasby Methodist Church, Reverend John Barnett will
be talking about Christians and Ecology. This will touch on the questions of the
Christian response to the care of the physical world and our responsibilities to it.
Join us for coffee and stimulating conversation from 6.30pm.
who attended Helen’s Thanksgiving Service on Wednesday and for your continued
support.
CIRCUIT ISSUES
The Leadership Teams from St. Luke’s, Greasby, Irby, Moreton and West Kirby
Methodist Churches will meet on Monday to consider how the latest proposals for
the establishment of new groupings within the Circuit could be implemented.
If anyone has a contribution to make to this discussion or feels strongly about any of
the issues, please speak with a member of the Leadership Team prior to the
meeting.
LUNCH PLUS
The next Lunch Plus will be held on Wednesday (14th January), at 12 for 12.30pm.
Please let us know if you are able (or unable) to attend by contacting Margaret on
632 2924, Marjorie on 632 1043 or Val on 632 1719, by 5pm today.
NORMAL SERVICE RESUMED
On Tuesday evening (13 January), our first Guides meeting of the New Year will take
place, while on Wednesday (14 January), the Prayer Meeting will be at 10.00am,
followed by the Community Coffee Morning. Later in the week, on Friday (16
January), Kidz Klub will be at 6.30pm.
WHIST EVENING
The first Golf Society Whist Evening of the New Year will be held in the Small Hall at
St. Luke’s on Saturday 17th January, commencing at 7.00pm. Please see David Paul
or Noel Johnstone if you would like to join us for a friendly game of cards.
PROPERTY & FINANCE MEETING
The next meeting of the Property & Finance team will be held at St. Luke's on
Monday 19th January. If you have any items for the agenda, please give them to
Jane Murch, in writing, as soon as possible.
THE BIG QUIZ OF 2014
Are you and your family budding quiz-tians? If so, why not join us as Youthie host
The Big Quiz of 2014 on Saturday 24th January at 6pm? Tickets are £4 adults and £2
under 11s or £10 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 under 11s). Maximum teams of 6
people. There will be nibbles on the night and all proceeds will go towards the
Youthie weekend away. Please speak to Matt Teale to sign up.
PUPPET MINISTRY
Next Sunday at St. Luke’s, children of all ages will enjoy the ‘No Strings’ puppet
ministry, who will provide a memorable family service with Bible-based sketches
and songs. Based at Altrincham Methodist Church, the puppets, who have performed
throughout the North West, are sure to stimulate the interest of both children and
adults alike, as they portray the Christian message as only a puppet can!
SERVICE AT THINGWALL METHODIST CHURCH
The Circuit Service to celebrate and give thanks for the witness and ministry at
Thingwall Methodist Church will be held at Thingwall on Sunday 18th January at
4.00pm. Please come and support the friends at Thingwall as the church there
closes and they continue their faith journeys elsewhere.
PRAYER TREE
At the last meeting of the Learning and Caring team, it was suggested we should
invite friends who are not already on the Prayer Tree to think about coming on, so
that when a prayer request is made, there will be more people to offer prayer
support. If you would like to join us, please get in touch with Clive or Chrissie or
Mary. (See phone numbers below).
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR METHODIST CONFERENCE
The Liverpool District will host the 2015 Methodist Conference at the Southport
Theatre and Convention Centre (Floral Hall) from Thursday 25th June to Thursday
2nd July. Volunteers are required for a variety of roles – stewards, Help Desk,
collators and drivers – and it’s a great opportunity to be involved and experience
Conference first hand.
For further details, or to volunteer to help on one or all of the days, kindly contact
Iain Henderson on 0151 638 4362 or email iain.s.a.henderson@ntlworld.com.
THANK YOU
Carl Sanderson and family would like to thank everyone for their kind expressions of
sympathy, floral tributes and donations received at this sad time. Thank you to all
Prayers
Please note that if anyone would like a prayer on the Prayer Tree for themselves or
someone else that they know, please phone either: Chrissie or Clive on 632 6252, or
Mary on 625 1777.
Grant to us, O Lord, purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no
passion may hinder us from doing your will, and no weakness from
doing it; that in your light we may see light clearly, and in your service
find perfect freedom; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
