Cathy grew up in West Hempstead, and along with her five sisters, went to St. Thomas the Apostle and Sacred Heart Academy. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Anselm College, Cathy spent her career as a Cardiothoracic ICU nurse at LIJ Medical Center. Nick and his two younger sisters were raised in Jamaica Estates and attended Immaculate Conception elementary school. Nick attended Archbishop Molloy High School, Albany University and received his JD from Brooklyn Law School. Nick has been working for Fidelity National Title Insurance Company for over fifteen years and is currently the Senior Vice President and Managing Counsel. Believing in the benefits of an education rooted in the teachings of the Church, the DeMartini’s sent their daughters to St. Agnes. Grace and Clare graduated from the Cathedral School and continued on to Sacred Heart Academy. Grace is currently a freshman at Loyola University in Maryland and Clare is a sophomore at SHA. The DeMartini’s will be forever grateful to St. Agnes School for the Catholic education that helped shape the lives of their daughters. Nick and Cathy were enthusiastically involved in many activities and committees at the school and continue to serve the Parish in many ways. Cathy was an active member of the Mothers’ Club and Home School Association for many years where she volunteered for countless events. She served on the St. Agnes School Board for three years, the last as President. She was on the Gala committee for eight years and also chaired the event. Nick was a member of the Fathers’ Club, supporting many events, especially the golf outing and is currently active in a variety of charitable organizations. Their commitment to Catholic education is evidenced by their long-term support of St. Agnes Cathedral School, as well as, their contributions to Sacred Heart Academy, Molloy College, St. John’s University and other philanthropic interests. Nick and Cathy are deeply honored to be the recipients of the 2015 St. Thomas Aquinas award for support of Catholic education. St. Agnes Cathedral School cordially invites you to attend the 2015 Gala Ball Honoring Nick and Cathy DeMartini St. Thomas Aquinas Award for ongoing support of Catholic Education and Elizabeth Boylan St. Catherine of Siena Award for commitment to Catholic Education Recognizing Rickey Moroney St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award for dedicated service to Catholic Education Saturday, February 7, 2015 Garden City Hotel 7:00 p.m. Grand Ballroom Garden City, New York Reception • Dinner and Dancing Black Tie Optional For reservations please call 516-594-1357 Elizabeth Boylan Elizabeth R. Boylan and her husband Chris have been parishioners of St. Agnes for twenty years. They have three children: James, Lizzie, and Thomas. All three graduated from St. Agnes Cathedral Elementary School and Kellenberg Memorial High School. Liz’s work in the Parish has included: being the Synod Coordinator for the Parish; the Hospitality Committee; the Family Mass Committee; Respect Life Committee; Lector; The Capital Finance, “Faith in Action” Campaign; and the Living the Eucharist Committee. In the schools her work has included: the St. Agnes Drama program; the St. Agnes School Board; St. Agnes Mothers’ Club; St. Agnes Home School Association; St. Agnes Gala dinner committee; Kellenberg Parents’ Board; Kellenberg Alumni Parents’ Association Board; and Kellenberg Golf Benefit Outing and Gala Reception. She has been an active member of UNYCE (United New Yorkers for Choice in Education), and has worked closely with the New York State Catholic Conference lobbying our state legislators in Albany for Education Tax Credits which would benefit all children, in both private and public schools. For her support of Catholic Schools, Liz was the recipient of the 2011 Diocese of Rockville Centre Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation Distinguished Parent Award. Liz and Chris have seen firsthand, in their children, the benefits of the high standards, scholastic excellence, and values provided by St. Agnes Elementary School. They believe that these values are what children, as well as parents, need to stay morally grounded in a broken world that sends out contradictory messages, and seems to be growing more secular each day. Liz and Chris are deeply grateful to Sister Kathleen Carlin, Miss Helen Newman, the teaching staff, and all the St. Agnes volunteers for providing their children with an education and environment that emphasizes the value of learning, and more importantly, the learning of values. Liz is honored to be the 2015 recipient of the St. Catherine of Siena Award for commitment to Catholic Education.
