We would like to congratulate Shelbie Pohts and Stacey Willard for being selected as contestants. To be selected each girl had to submit a resume and be active in their community. They will now work on their public speaking skills, take an etiquette class, get make up and clothing tips and plan and build a float that will be in the Go Texan parade in February. Along with the title the Queen will receive a $3,000 scholarship. First runner-up will receive a $2,000 scholarship, second runner-up will receive a $1,000 scholarship and Miss Congeniality will receive a $500 scholarship. There will be a general interest debate meeting held in February with the date to be announced. Students in Debate II, III, & IV are selected by the coach and are on the Varsity Debate Team. The ORHS Debate Team is currently ranked in the top 5% in the Nation and the top 3% in the state. The 25th Annual SCI://TECH Exposition, themed Igniting Inspiration for a Generation, is a partnership between EfTA and area schools, and includes nearly 5,000 students engaging in STEM events with the support of hundreds of volunteers. Driver License Attendance Verification (Verification of Enrollment – VOE) To obtain a driver’s license in the state of Texas, a student between the ages of 15 and 18 must annually provide to the Texas Department of Public Safety a form obtained from the school verifying that the student has met the 90 percent attendance requirement for the semester preceding the date of application. The student can request this form at their Assistant Principal’s office. Requests are typically processed within 24-48 hours.
