Congratulations to Mrs. Dunn's Cosmetology II Seniors for an AMAZING District competition last week! The class traveled to the CHI Academy in Houston, TX and Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont, TX to participate in the 2015 District 7 SkillsUSA competition. The class collected Gold, Silver and Bronze this year! Senior Brittany Duncan received the bronze medal in Men's Haircutting and will advance to State competition in Corpus Christi in March. Also advancing to State is senior Alexis Morris who competed in Make-up Artistry Job Demonstration Skills and took the Silver medal in her event. Senior Jessica Barton submitted a Hair coloring project which received a blue ribbon in her division and her project will advance to State. The Cosmetology Knowledge Bowl team, which consists of five senior members (Fionna Markey, Kristi Shaw, Sabrina Soto, Susanna Thomas and Criss White) took the Gold medal, earning the title of District 7 Cosmetology Knowledge Bowl Champions and will also compete to defend their title in March in Corpus Christi. Driver License Attendance Verification (Verification of Enrollment – VOE) To obtain a driver’s license in the state of Texas, a student between the ages of 15 and 18 must annually provide to the Texas Department of Public Safety a form obtained from the school verifying that the student has met the 90 percent attendance requirement for the semester preceding the date of application. The student can request this form at their Assistant Principal’s office. Requests are typically processed within 24-48 hours. Students should remember that buildings are closed during spring and winter break as well as holidays and should plan accordingly.
