Optional Programme
9 April 2015, 3-6pm - Kuala Lumpur Heritage Trail
Kuala Lumpur Heritage Trail will be a walk of about two to three hours through the historic facet of Kuala Lumpur. There will be many famous
colonial-era landmark buildings built from as early as 1864, with distinctive architectural style – mogul, eclectic art deco and English gothic,
that will bring you back to the years when Kuala Lumpur was but a bustling tin mining area. Do you know that the Clock Tower in Kuala Lumpur
was built to commemorate the coronation of King George VI in 1937? Join us in the walk into Kuala Lumpur’s glorious past, and get
mesmerised by the masterpiece work of the likes of A.B Hubback and A.C Norman.
10 April 2015, 8am to noon - Rumble in the Jungle
Rumble in the Jungle will be a break away from the city into the lush green of the biggest and oldest man-made forest in the world located within
the compound of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), in Kepong. Experience the splendor sight of crown shyness phenomenon
exhibited by camphor trees (Dryobalanops aromatica) and get giddy 300m above sea level as you walk through the canopy walkway. A word of
caution to city-dwellers – be careful not to wake the sleeping elephant (the ‘sitting elephant’ is a nickname accorded to a medium hardwood tree
that looks eerily like an elephant at rest.)! End the walk with your feet cooled and massaged in pristine water running from a small waterfall while
the orchestra of the forest treats you to an audio feast.
