Welcome to West Highland!
Thank you for worshipping with us!
Welcome to West Highland where our
doors are wide open to people from all
backgrounds, regardless of where they
are from or where they’re at on their spiritual journey.
Mabuhay from the Philippines! This morning (it’s a 13 hour time
difference ahead of our time in Hamilton), I preached at the
Baliwag Bible Christian Church. This was the church we planted
during the years 1985-1989. Today I finally got to see the Worship
Centre they erected after we left 26 years ago. This is a special
place for me because all of our children were born in the
Philippines and some of our fondest early family memories are of
our special times in Baliwag. Both Mary Lue and Peter were born
when we lived here and Peter’s wife, Gracie, is from Baliwag, too.
After preaching and worshipping here, we have flown south
toward our destination in Ormoc where tomorrow we will begin
the LeadersFor training of 40 pastors from the island of Leyte.
This is a part of the Philippines I have never seen. The teaching
will be for four days and then we will take a side trip to Tacloban
City to connect with some pastors who are ministering among the
people who were so adversely affected by Typhoon Haiyan over a
year ago. From here, we will fly to General Santos, the
southernmost city of the Philippines and I will preach next Sunday
at the Glan Evangelical Alliance Church at 5:30 A.M.! After this,
we begin the LeadersFor training with another 40 Filipino pastors.
To keep up to date on my impressions and experiences of Filipino
food, culture, sights, history, people and ministry please check out
my blog “Mission to the Philippines” on our church’s Facebook
page (www.facebook.com/westhighlandchurch). May the Lord
bless you all richly in worship today. I am praying for you.
Mabuhay to you all!
P.S. If you don’t know what “ Mabuhay” means just ask one of our
West Highland Filipinos. They’ll be happy to translate.
