Fran Rago, one of the travelers from the October 2014 trip to Haiti gave a reflection of his experience in the form of a poem that he wrote. There are some current pictures taken on January 24th of the construction of the new church in Fouji, Zoranje. You can find them on the bulletin board at the back of our church, St. Patrick - St. Anthony Facebook page, or on the Sister Parish page on the St. Patrick - St. Anthony website. The next trip to Haiti will be April 13-20. There will be an opportunity to see the progress of the new church construction. Call the parish office for more information (860-756-4034). Dear Parishioners and Friends at St. Patrick-St. Anthony and St. Genevieve, May the Lord give you peace. I thank everyone who made our celebration of St. Genevieve a spectacular prayer event last Sunday. It is good to remember our link with our Sister Parish. The new building that will house their church is under construction. It will be wonderful to see it completed. It will provide space for the church to pray as well as for the gathering of the community. Let us continue to keep this church community in our prayer. I hope that you were able to take some time during the snowstorm to pray and consider the many ways that God is present in our lives. A snow day provides the opportunity to break from our routine - perhaps time to play, time to organize, time to be with or contact the significant people in our lives, and time to pray. I also thank those who were able to touch base with our senior or infirm members to be sure they were doing well. As you know, I am sure, Lent is early this year. Our Open Hearts Ministry has graciously offered to host once again a Mardi Gras to anticipate our entrance into the season of prayer, fasting and alms giving. The Mardi Gras will be on February 8 ● Community Sunday is a time to meet in the Urban Center after Mass for coffee, donuts, blood pressure screening and conversation. Additionally our Community Sunday Hosts are responsible to set up, replenish and clean up. Can you imagine being part of this unique team after the 8, 10 or 11:45 Masses? If so, please contact Trudi in the parish office for more information. ● There are many opportunities to use your specific gifts and talents within our parish and the larger community. To find out the possibilities, please contact Trudi in the Volunteer Ministry office. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Moses told the people, “A prophet like me will the Lord, your God, raise up for you from among your own kinsmen.” God still provides among His people the gifts and talents necessary to continue the work of His Church. LIVING STEWARDSHIP We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who set time aside with the Sunday Readings throughout the week so as to be better prepared to hear the Word of God and act on it. following the 11:45 Mass.
