SPEAK LIFE
A group of frogs was traveling through the woods looking for a bigger pond when two of
them fell into a very deep hole. The other frogs crowded around, and when they saw just
how deep the hole was they shook their heads and started calling to the two frogs at the
bottom that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the shouting and with all
their might kept trying to jump up out of the hole. The other frogs jeered at them and told them to give up as
their efforts were useless. Finally, one of the frogs stopped jumping and, panting heavily, fell on his side. He
lay still and soon died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. The crowd of frogs yelled at
him to stop the pain and just give up and die. He jumped even harder, and finally made it out of the top of the
hole. When he got out, the other frogs were astonished and asked him, “Didn’t you hear us?” The frog look
puzzled and asked them to repeat what they had just said because he was a bit deaf. He thought they had
been shouting encouragement to him! There is power in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone in
difficult circumstances can lift them up and help them to make it through another day. Destructive words, on
the other hand, can be all it takes to deprive them of hope and life. The power of words is much greater than
we may think. Be careful what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The person who makes the
effort to encourage another is special indeed.
Stephen Ministry
As of July 7, 2015 will
have completed our 13
years of ministering to
the fellow parishioners
at St. Frances!! Our
parish was enrolled in
Stephen Ministry in
2002, after Father Jenkins had decided that
the care system provided by Stephen
Ministry best met the needs of our parish.
Lay caregivers (people like you and I) called
Stephen Ministers (after St. Stephen),
provide one-to-one care to the bereaved,
hospitalized terminally ill, unemployed,
handicapped, home-bound, and others
facing a crisis or life challenge. The ministry
helps our priests by providing follow-up
care for as long as needed. Our care
receivers benefit from a strong support
system, and our Christian friendship and
love. We Stephen Ministers benefit through
the spiritual growth we experience from
being involved in a meaningful ministry,
and everyone benefits from knowing that
additional care will be available for us and
our loved ones if we should need it. Those
of us who serve on Stephen ministry love
and believe in the ministry because you see
the results in our dear care receivers. We
know the difference this ministry makes in
our parish, but in order to keep it a viable
ministry we need to have more dedicated
people join us… people like you. Please
keep the ministry in mind and in your
prayers!!!
The Young at Heart Ministry will be
having a “Valentine/Fat Tuesday” Bingo
Potluck on Tuesday, February 17th at 12
PM. All Seniors and young at heart are
invited. Please see flyer for more
information on what dish to bring.

Healing Broken Hearts-One
Weekend at a Time.
Pope Francis said: “God is the light that
illuminates the darkness, even if it does not
dissolve it, and a spark of divine light is
within each of us.” Sometimes situations and
decisions from the past can place us into
darkness where we feel disconnected and
alone. If you have emotional or spiritual

sociedad?
Ministros:
¿Están ustedes buscando algún otro lugar para
compartir información? Si es así, ¡aproveche
