Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,
Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!
It is a blessing to have your join our
worshiping
community
as
we
celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for
the Fifth Sunday of Lent.
Your
presence and prayerful participation
enrich our Liturgy. Thanks for being
with us! May the Word of God enlighten your
mind and the Bread of Life nourish your spirit.
Jeremiah, in today’s First Reading, speaks
for the Lord as God’s prophet. The last verse
in today’s passage speaks of the Lord’s
mercy. “All, from least to greatest, shall know
me,” says the Lord, “for I will forgive their
evildoing and remember their sin no more.”
Reflecting on this verse is a great way to
prepare for our Lenten Penance Service on
Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00pm. Knowing the
Lord as forgiving, as one who forgets our sins,
surely encourages us to repent. The Lenten
Season invites us to continual conversion as
we struggle to live out our Christ-like
discipleship. Aware of our words and actions
hurting others, conscious of our sinfulness, we
are invited to repent so as to be forgiven.
Forgiveness renews our spirit and moves us
forward on our journey to conversion.
If you are unable to join us for Tuesday’s
Penance Service, check out the list of
Penance Services at our local Parishes, listed
in today’s bulletin. Hopefully, you will find one
that fits into your busy schedule.
Next weekend, we celebrate Palm Sunday of
the Passion of the Lord. We begin Holy Week!
As we come to the final days of Lent, I invite
you to be enriched by the
special Liturgies of Holy
Week. Let us pray for
one another during this
sacred time.
Peace be with you!
God bless,
Fr. McKee
P.S. Thanks to all who participated in our Parish
Mission this past week. Your presence enriched
all! I am grateful to Rev. John Collins for leading
our Mission and sharing his insights on “Family.”

CON’T
Corner Every single one of us is completely
unique. All our situations bear the unique
circumstances that make up our lives. Consider a
fourth kind of situation which might prevent us from
coming to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
# 4: "I go frequently, but I confess the same
venial sins over and over again. I don't know if
going to Confession is helping me any more."
There are many ways we can come to a renewed
sense of repentance, after years of confessing only
the same things. After making sure we have not
missed some serious sin in our examination, we can
celebrate the Sacrament by being deeply grateful
that our Lord has kept us from serious sin.
The greatest fruit in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
will come if we take the time to prepare well. It takes
real prayer and grace to come to this Sacrament
well. It takes planning to say what we want to say
well. This all part of the time of grace that allows
God to work in us and prepare us for a grace filled
encounter. Finally, it is so important to come to the
Sacrament as a celebration.
