Western Scone Mix
Navajo Tacos
6 cups Augason Farms Western Scone Mix
2 1/4 cups warm water
2 tablespoons yeast
Prepare scones according to directions on package. Divide into
8 portions. Shape into a ball then roll flat. Fry in oil until golden
brown on both sides. Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Augason Farms Western Scone Mix is a delicious way to make
quick and easy scones or Navajo Fry Bread.
Scone Variations
• Buttermilk Scones
Substitute buttermilk for water and add 2 tablespoons sugar to the
basic recipe.
1 can refried beans
1 pound ground beef – cooked & drained
1 onion – diced
1 head iceberg lettuce – finely chopped
3 tomatoes – finely chopped
2 cups cheddar cheese – shredded
1 pint sour cream
1 jar salsa
• Cheddar Cheese Scones
Add 2 cups grated cheddar cheese and 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard.
Place fry bread on plate and layer with above ingredients
according to taste. Garnish with sour cream and salsa.
• Spiced Scones
Add enough cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice to the dry
ingredients to total 1 teaspoon.
• Chocolate Chip Scones
Add 1 cup chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons vanilla to the basic
recipe.

1. Combine scone mix, yeast, water, and oil. Knead until smooth and elastic, or mix 10-12 minutes using dough hook on 2nd speed
(3 speed mixer).
2. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes, roll out and cut.
3. Fry at 375°F. Turn when golden brown on the underneath side.
Yield: 24 scones.
