Employment Opportunity: Scientist – Production Development May 21, 2015 Adarza BioSystems, Inc. seeks a Product Development Chemist to perform production of and equipment maintenance to support the manufacture of our proprietary label-free detection technology, Arrayed Imaging Reflectometry (AIRTM). Reporting to the Director of Operations, this individual will be a key member of the product development and production staff and will be integral to the growth and production of our biosensor product line. Job Description: The successful applicant will also be expected to perform production functions such as AIR chip preparation and functionalization, printing, assay optimization and validation. Additional duties will also include maintenance and repair of production equipment. This individual will lead cross-functional product development projects from system integration, optimization and validation of the microarray assay protocols. Also important will be a track record showing the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory and production equipment. Strongly preferred candidates will have experience in design of experiments (DOE) methodology, statistical process control, antibody sourcing and testing and related problem solving tools in assay development and validation. The ideal candidate will employ disciplined methodologies to the product development process, a logical approach to the solution of problems and the capacity for original thinking. Candidates will be asked to present previous product development experiences and successes to demonstrate their abilities and the relevance of their experience. Desired Qualifications: A college education and five (5) years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, or Immunology). Applicants with specific experience with piezo electric printing methods or knowledge of chemical vapor deposition mythologies will be considered at any degree level. Demonstrable self-motivation and a solid work ethic. A background in maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment. Strong project management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills to work within tight deadlines Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as a good background in product development Proven ability to effectively collaborate with others, initiate actions, adapt to change, and accept challenging assignments. Experience with ISO requirements and GMP guidelines, FDA and AOAC regulations, medical device design control, and manufacturing scale-up processes a plus. Experience as a product development scientist in biotech, medical devices or related industry will likewise be a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
