ABOUT VERESEN Veresen is a publicly‐traded dividend paying corporation based in Calgary, Alberta, that owns and operates energy infrastructure assets across North America. THE POSITION The Facilities Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer, while working collaboratively with the Plant Managers of both Veresen’s Hythe and Steeprock facilities. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • • • • • • Provide engineering support to Operations and Maintenance on process of environmental and regulatory compliance with EPC companies; Perform review and risk assessment of technical issues; Detail scoping and ranking of maintenance capital projects including DBM, cost estimate, schedule, and AFE development; Manage engineering contractors, equipment procurement, inspection and construction contractors to ensure projects are successfully completed; Develop the business case for maintenance capital projects; Coordinate and manage Operational Improvement Requests / Management of Change process; • • • • • • Provide regular updates on project statuses and operational issues informing Plant Managers and VP of Engineering of status/issues as required; Ensure key drawings and equipment data sheets are up to date and deficiencies identified; Participate in Hazop’s / Lopa’s and design reviews; Conduct and/or participate in loss control inspections and practice, root cause failure analysis, internal safety audits and simulated safety practices; Coordinate process control additions and adjustments, mechanical and piping changes and or any other applicable additions/changes with operations and engineering staff, within the MOC process, to safely establish design parameters and criteria for good operating practice; Manage multiple concurrent projects using effective communication across multiple stakeholder groups. QUALIFICATIONS • • • • • • • • • • Preference will be given to those who have previous facility engineering and / or project engineering experience; The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with up to 7 years of experience; Registered with or eligible for APEGA / APEGBC membership; Possess a good understanding of the operation of plant and field production facilities and has the knowledge, experience and required skills to safely and effectively execute projects; Have a strong knowledge of ‘Best Practices’ in operations engineering including piping, control and other specifications; Demonstrates initiative in problem solving and believes in continuous learning; Demonstrates and supports a consultative approach with members of the production team; Previous experience with gas plant processes as well as exposure to regulatory standards and industry best practices (i.e., BC OGC, BCSA, ABSA, ASME, NACE, API, CSA) would be preferred; Capable of working in both an office and industrial site/construction environment; Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience with a producer / owner company. LOCATIONS Based out of the Hythe and Steeprock plants, located 75 km’s and 105 km’s NW from Grande Prairie respectively. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
