Moose News Buckeye Lake Moose #2434 FEBRUARY 2014 LOOM NEWS We sure have had quite a winter this year. George Williams has done a great job keeping our walkways shoveled this winter. We thank you for your dedication, and we are very grateful you are doing well. You gave us all quite a scare last year at this time buddy! Super Bowl sunday A big thanks goes to Neil Carson, for his personal donation towards the gravel. We would also, like to thank the women of the moose chapter, for their donation, too. It is February which means super Bowl sunday and our annual chili cook-off hosted by kalie ridenour. Our super Bowl party starts at 6pm. Anyone that would like to bring in finger foods to share, please feel free too. The kitchen will be closed and our chef patti is planning on putting out a spread. If you would like to enter your chili in the chili contest, it must be in a crockpot. Further details are posted in social quarters. Lodge Contact Hap p ntin y e’s D ay Vale We would like to thank the moose riders and the legion for their donations towards repairing our walk-in cooler. The riders are also raffling off a nice TV and valentine’s day basket. Be sure to buy your tickets before they are all gone! Rick, George and i, went to the district meeting in Hillard last month. The weather was in our favor that weekend. I hope to see all of you enjoying your lodge this month! I know cabin fever is going around! 740.246.6711 phone Wayne Purdy, Administrator 740.246.5083 fax Administrator: Wayne Purdy Governor: Rick Arnoff Jr. Governor: Gary Hamm Treasurer: Charlie Evans Prelate: George Williams Trustees: Tim Cooperider, Bruce Metzger, Paul Robberts Recorder: Steph Helton Senior Regent: Cindy Kealey Newsletter & Advertising: Melissa McDonnell, 614.561.4733 Sickness or Death: WOTM, Mary O, 740-504-7129 LOOM: Bill Billings Newsletter printed by Buckeye Lake Shopper Reporter 1 of 5 Downloaded From: www.OhioMoose.org Posted Online: 02/11/2014 News from the Kitchen Buckeye Lake Moose #2434 Entertainment Friday, February 7th - 7:00pm-11:00pm Dawson Cooper Band Friday, February 21st - 7:00pm-11:00pm Smith Brothers Band wotm neW MEMBERS/Sponsors CINDY HILES/PATTI WILLIAMS LINDSEY McCullough/LORI CREIGLOW MELISSA VAUBEL/TONYA SIMCO SARA FARRIS/ANN FARRIS SHELLI MORRIS/REBECCA KRUMLAUF LOOM NEW MEMBERS/SPONSORS BRANDON EASTON/JEFF BURKHART DAVID HAMPTON/TOM SPIKER DOUG MARSTON/TOM SPIKER LAIGH VAUBEL/BRYAN HENDERSON DANIEL FOX/JASON CARPENTER KEVIN KRUMLAUF/RON KOEHLER ALLEN NEW/CHARLES CLARK DOUG COOPERRIDER/RICHIE BORING 2 of 5 COOK’S CORNER FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER SPECIALS FEBRUARY 7 WOTM DINNER FEBRUARY 14 BABY BACK RIBS, BAKED POTATO, SALAD & ROLL FEBRUARY 21 6 OZ. First of all I would like to again welcome all of you to our Moose Lodge. We strive to make it a happy, welcome place, and appreciate your continued support. We are always open for suggestions from our members, and ask that you continue to give them to us. These suggestions can be given to a board member, or put into the suggestion box. They can also be given at one of our board meetings. Please remember we have meetings twice a month at 6:00pm on Mondays. You can check the newsletter to make sure which Mondays they are every month, and remember you are welcome to attend these meetings. I know it has been a long cold winter so far with snow and cold weather, but again thanks goes out to all of you for your support. We do ask that you all drive and stay safe during this cold season. Thanks again to you all. Rick Arnoff, Governor MOOSE RIDERS Hello all! My name is Kim Ardrey: I am the New President of Buckeye Lake Moose Riders. Please come and look me up, and say “HI”! I’m looking forward to meeting all of you. We have pre-planned an awesome year of riding, fun, and events for all to participate in. No! You don’t have to own a motorcycle to belong, or to have fun with the Buckeye Lake Moose Riders. Anything with wheels will work. Just join and give us a try for a year. The more the merrier. Please look over our calendar of events, if you see something that interests you, or if there is something else you would like to do, please contact me. As John Travolta would say, “I just want to ride”, and have lots of fun this year. I’m looking forward to a fun and enjoyable year. It is that time of year to pay our dues; they are only a measly $1000 a year. Heck, I spend more than that on pull-offs! (Why not give us a try for a year!) We have two awesome raffles coming up. February 14th we have an awesome basket with a $50 Dinner Gift Card. Wine and other goodies; February 28th we will be raffling off a 32” TV. Both of these Raffles are to help out with all the donations we have planned for the year. Ride Safe, Ride Often Moose Riders #2434 Calendar of events moose riders Feb. 2nd -10:am Meeting Feb. 14th - Basket Raffle - Valentine’s Day Dinner Raffle Feb. 28th - TV Raffle Drawing Mar. 2nd - 10:am Meeting Mar. 15th - Polar Bear Plunge @ Indian Lake Moose Lodge - WOTM CHAPTER News Wow, what a hard, awful winter we have had. Polar Vortex? Snow rolls? Just like the derecho we had 1 1/2 years ago, phrases I’ve never heard. Let this be the last of them. The WOTM gave $850 towards the gravel that was put down in January. The district also asked that we donate $25 towards a toy basket they will be taking to the state meeting to raffle off. I like to put these items in our newsletter so our members can see where their money is going, when we have raffles, dinners and 50/50’s. Sara won the employee pizza. When I told her she said oh, where do I sign up for next time? She was so pleased she won it and I loved it! I told her to start reading the newsletter of course LOL! I will be doing the WOTM dinner for February. I’ll be having Stephanie Helton’s recipe for Johnny Marzetti, salad, r/b, dessert for $6.00. If you are interested in holding an office as being a part of the WOTM, the elections will be held from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. March 20th. Please see a WOTM officer if interested. An open position will be the recorder. She is like a treasurer. Did you know….the Katherine Smith Special Needs Hall at Moosehaven was built specifically for residents who require dementia care? Peeler Hall did it for 11 years, but wasn’t a facility designed specifically for dementia care. The Katherine Smith Hall was opened earlier in 2013.
