BHCNC NEWS Behavioral Health Center of Nueces County Newsletter Go Green! Diane Lowrance Chief Executive Officer May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. Nueces County Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing May 3-9, 2015 as National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Representatives from BHCNC Youth Services were recognized for the work they do for the community. On May 12, 2015 Corpus Christi Mayor, Nelda Martinez, also issued a proclamation in observance of this special week raising awareness about mental health and our youth. Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Day Habilitation Center on 1602 Tenth Street Employee Outstanding Employees of the Year Above And Beyond 2 Recognition February, 25th, 2015 With an great turnout, dozens of employees were recognized for their outstanding and steadfast service at the annual employee recognition luncheon. The work done by them, and the entire BHCNC staff, was noted by not only the Board Members, but also City Leaders, the State Legislature, and the United States Congress through official proclamation and certificates of special recognition. Their service highlights the vital and outstanding work all the hardworking staff does on a daily basis! 3 GOOD-BYE TO A FRIEND: We celebrated a bitter-sweet moment when we bid Janie Gonzalez “good-bye.” Janie served with us for 20 years, and is off to enjoy her well deserved retirement. Her friendship and Employee Benefits expertise will be missed. Employee Benefits Lisa Molina Employee Benefits Clerk Lisa Molina has taken over as the Employee Benefits clerk in Human Resources. With 4 years of experience at BHCNC, she is taking on this new challenge with determination and enthusiasm. With her proven track record and positive attitude, she will add to the synergy of an already outstanding department. On assuming the new position, Lisa said “I like to help employees and show them the benefits of working at our Center.” 4 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Yvonne Acuna Program Supervisor l A familiar face got promoted to the Unit Supervisor l position for Texas Home living Services within the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Unit. Yvonne Acuna was has been with the Center since 1985. She brings a wealth of experience from her past positions and as Direct Support Professional lll working with the Foster Care Companion Program. New Face in HR Daniella Gonzalez is the new Human Resources Clerk. In an example of promoting personal and Daniella Gonzalez profesHR Clerk sional growth, Daniella transferred from the Brownlee Square facility to fill her new position. A native Texan, Daniella joined the BHCNC team in April, 2014. With her sister, she is part of Grupo Bezzo. In their 6 years, the ensemble has received a nomination at the Tejano Music Awards for their album’s title song Dimé. They also had a hit single Mi Querido Amor which topped the charts for 6 weeks. Her singing career started one night when she tried Karaoke at a local pub, right here in Corpus Christi. We were treated to her talents at the Employee Recognition Celebration in February. Accounting/Management Information Systems Luncheon at Café Maya 6 Center employees wore blue in recognition of Autism Awareness Week March 27-April 02, 2015 Practicing our knowledge of our Center and it’s policies while making it fun. The Behavioral Health Center underwent a rigorous unannounced visit from The Joint Commission Surveyors during the month of March. We are happy to announce that the Center received the Golden Seal of Approval ® in compliance with the Behavioral Health Accreditation program.
