The BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC) has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and innovative executive manager to implement the administrative and operational framework of the BVI IAC. Position Summary The position requires a business-minded and service-oriented professional who understands and will promote the BVI IAC’s objectives. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, creative problem solver and team player who is collaborative yet comfortable making decisions. Impeccable oral and written communication skills, a passion for technology, streamlined processes and efficiency are essential. The ideal candidate also thrives on meeting challenges in a demanding environment and must have good knowledge of dispute resolution (particularly arbitration) and a proven track record in effectively establishing new organisations. The BVI IAC was established to provide support and facilities for arbitration and mediation proceedings under the Arbitration Act, 2013 (“the Act”) and its main functions are: (a) to provide necessary facilities for the conduct of arbitral and mediation proceedings in the Virgin Islands; (b) to provide essential dispute resolution services for the conduct of arbitral and mediation proceedings; (c) to receive and process documents on behalf of parties that choose to settle their disputes through arbitration in the Virgin Islands; (d) to provide necessary support to arbitral tribunals established pursuant to the provisions of the Act to facilitate the conduct of arbitral proceedings; (e) to perform all duties imposed by the Act; and (f) to perform such other function as may be related or incidental to the efficient and effective functioning of the BVI IAC. Minimum Qualifications & Experience • • • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, law or a related field with at least 7 years senior experience in management and implementing projects and systems; or Master’s degree in business, law or related field with at least 5 years experience in senior management and implementing projects and systems Dispute resolution experience Fluency in at least two languages (one of which must be English) and membership in a professional dispute resolution organisation could be advantages.
