This past week's Gospel message reinforces
the concept that we are one with Christ (4/26/15,
John 10:11-18). Jesus is the ONE Shepherd who
guides us, walks with us, and lays His life down for
us. Our Church is one universal Church of hope, and
we are being asked to support its goals to carry out
five priorities: local parishes, vocations, Catholic
charities, and very important to all of us - Catholic
schools. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr has stated that, "Catholic schools
are vital to our evangelizing ministry and the future of our Church." I
believe this, and I believe that we cannot be isolationist about the
future of our Church. We are in unity with our community of
believers, and as such we must continue to work together to
strengthen those who have physical needs as well as those who have
spiritual needs. The One Faith, One Hope, One Love campaign is asking that we
continue to pray and remain faithful to the Gospel message of Jesus,
and we are also being asked to provide for the physical needs of our
Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati by making a five
year pledge to keep our Church and our schools strong. Consider your
own pledge carefully and share what you can. Click here

Today, May 1st. Second Grade First Communion Celebration Day
We know that your child's First Communion is extremely important and
capturing this special event on camera for years to come will help keep
the memory. Today, immediately following the school mass, we have
arranged for Life Touch to take a group First Communion photo of the
Incarnation School second grade students. The picture will be taken in
the Parish Center Lobby.
Students are asked to arrive at school dressed in their First Communion
attire. Students will attend mass dressed in their First Communion attire. If your child did not make his/her First Communion, they may dress
formally for the photo. If you do not wish for your child to wear his/her
dress or suit please have your child wear a white uniform shirt with the
blue uniform pants. All 2nd grade students will be photographed in the
group picture.

Principal of the Day Lead Incarnation
Last week Dr. Reichel mentored two young
women as they stepped in to the Principal
and Assistant Principal of the Day positions.
Alex Volk, Principal, and Addysen
Hendrick, Assistant principal, obtained this
opportunity in the silent auction at the 2015
FRY this past March. They started the day
with car duty and ended the day with a
special announcement for a pajama day in 4th grade. Thanks so much
ladies for stepping in and helping run the school and thanks to the Fry
committee for offering this as part of the silent auction for families!
"It'll nearly be like a picture from Courier & Ives"
The second graders were taught
about the famous lithographers,
Currier & Ives during our Masterworks
program this month. Currier & Ives
used lithographs, which were created
by a printing process popular at the
time. The company gave the public
pictures that were easy to understand
and appreciate. The prints sold for a
very reasonable price. Therefore, the
prints were found in the homes of the
rich and poor. Today, an original
print from the Currier & Ives
Company could go for up to $25,000!
The second graders were able to make their own art using a process
similar to one the Currier & Ives Company used. They had a blast making
their own prints and learning about a new artist!

Alter High School on Thursday. Special thanks to Mrs. Erickson, Mrs.

Miller for organizing and implementing another fabulous day for the
students. Special thanks to all the volunteers that also helped make

Girl Scout Troop 32611
Needs Your Help!
The 3 rdGrade Girl Scout
Brownie troop 32611 is
collecting items for The
Society for the Improvement
of Conditions for Stray
Animals (SICSA). This project
is helping them to complete
their Journey patch. The
collection boxes are located at
the two main entrances of the
school. Collections begin May
4th and will be available for
the week.Items in need are
the following:
Hand Sanitizers, Q­tips,
Cotton Balls, First Aid Gauze,
served on many committees, led numerous homeroom driven events,
organized yearly functions and supported the Incarnation community. The volunteer breakfast will be held in the faculty lounge in the school.
Everyone who has volunteered during the school year is welcome to
attend. Hope to see you there!
Upcoming Sum dog Math Contest!
The Sumdog website is sponsoring its last contest
of the school year for Montgomery County that
will run from Friday May 1, 8:00am through
Thursday May 7, 8:00pm. There are several
classes participating in this particular contest.
For their participation and for answering 100
questions, students will receive a new item for
their Sumdog House. Good Luck to those in the
contest!
Sixth Grade Excellence in Writing in Two Writing Contests
With their short stories and non‐fiction essays based on the theme of
family, the following sixth graders have placed in the Catholic Schools
Writing Contest for Fifth and Sixth Graders: Caroline Bishop, Braden Cox,
Camille Delgado, Soren Dinkins, Lauren Doorley, Isabela Fernandez, Emma
Hitch, Sophia Imundo, Abby Mouse, Kennedy Roshong, Will Schwieterman,
Taylor Thornburg, Ethan Touhey, Annabel Wildermuth, Anna Wolters, and
Simon Yacoub. They will receive awards at a reception at Chaminade‐
Julienne High School on Monday, May 4.
In addition, the following sixth graders' persuasive essays on the topic of
the evil and prevention of violence placed in the Mathias Heck Violence
Prevention Essay Contest: Camille Delgado (again), Will Homan, and Jack
Ruffolo. They will receive awards at a luncheon held in their honor.

A Special Congratulations to Mrs. Meg Hoge,
third grade teacher, and her husband, Dan! The
wait is over and Evelyn Anne (Evie) Hoge
arrived on April 28th. Mom and Baby Evie are
doing fabulous! Welcome to Incarnation Evie! Girls on the Run Fall Team 2015 Taking Registrations
Girls on the Run is a structured 10‐week program that incorporates
Towels, Blankets, Bird Seed,
Tissues, and Kongs for small
pets. Your donations are
greatly appreciated! training for a 5K event as a means to
teach essential life skills to 3rd‐5th grade
girls. GOTR is designed to encourage
independent thinking, problem solving and
community building...as well as running!
Girls on the Run will be held directly after
school until 5:00 on Tuesdays and
Thursdays beginning in September. Cost is
approximately $150.00. The 5K will be
held in November at Welcome Stadium.
SPACE IS LIMITED! We are going to try our best to accommodate as
many runners as possible next year. Please fill out the form below if

Camp is a week­long
residential camp for students
entering grades 6­12 for the
2015­16 school year. It is
located outside of
Columbus. According to their website,
"CYSC is the premier High
Adventure camp experience.
Live the Adventure!. Activities
typically include: jet skis, water
tubing, paintball, blobbing, go­
carts, archery, zip line, rock
climbing, ropes courses,
mountain boarding, and
more! Our faith is founded in
the Sacramental life of the
Catholic Church, but our
mission and work is anything
but boring. At CYSC you may
come for the jet skis and
climbing walls, but you'll leave
with a new Freedom only
found in Jesus."

"GEMUTLICHKEIT"
...the one German word that describes the
feeling of being at ease, comfortable, and
at home. It makes you want to linger,
enjoying the company, your surroundings,
good food and drink...and that is exactly
what the 7th and 8th grade Deutsch Klasse
did for their foreign language luncheon
field trip at Carillon Park. Food has
always been a major part of German culture. Even the well‐known
German fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel, makes reference to food. Hansel
and Gretel, brother and sister, discover a house in the forest made of
gingerbread and candies. Der König Frederick II (King Frederick the
Great, 1712‐1786) introduced the potato, a staple in the German diet. He
gave away seed potatoes and taught the people how to grow them and
each region now has its own favorite ways of preparing them. Most
importantly, Germans tend to eat heavy and hearty meals at lunch time
that include ample portions of meat and bread as well. In true German
style, with a "Guten Appetit", the "Studenten" enjoyed a traditional meal
including Pretzel Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Wiener Schnitzel,
Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, authentic Pommes (French Fries) and Potato
Salad. A wonderful Apfel Strudel and Black Forest Cake was served for
dessert. The students also received a valuable history and science lesson
from the Carillon Park Staff about why grains and brewing styles brought
from Germany kept many German and Austrian immigrants coming to the
Dayton area healthy and free from dissenteria and disease back in the
17th and 18th Century. Also, a "Vielen Dank" zu die Liebe "Mütter" for
joining us for an afternoon of "Gemütlichkeit!"
Gym Uniforms for the 2015‐2016 School Year!
All students in grades 6‐8th are required to wear a gym uniform. On
Friday May 8th the spirit wear committee will be in the Science lab
assisting students with trying on gym uniforms. All other students who
need to reorder current gym uniforms are welcome to stop in and place an
order as well. Parents are welcome to come during their child's scheduled
time to help in selection of appropriate sizes. Please have the form
completed and a check made payable to Incarnation PTO. All orders are
due Friday, May 22nd. All orders will be available for pick up in the child's
classrooms during the Open House in August.If you have any questions or

Guardian Angel Families Needed
The Welcome Committee is looking for Incarnation Guardian Angel
Families to assist new families with the transition to our school. As a
Guardian Angel Family, you would welcome the new family to our school
and answer questions for them. This would require a small amount of
your time but would be a big benefit to our new families. Thank you to

Centerville Transportation Aviation Art Contest Competition Results are In!
This past Sunday afternoon, the Air Force Museum hosted an awards
celebration for the 32nd annual Student Aviation Art Competition. This
year's theme was Global Positioning Systems. The students were
challenged to show the Air Force's role in this important communication
system through their artwork. Over 100 pieces of artwork represented
many different Miami Valley public and private schools. The following
Incarnation students took home awards and prizes. For grades K‐1: Adam
Wasik, Grade 1, second place: Ryan Snizik, Kindergarten, third place. For
grades 2 and 3: Diya Percy, Grade 3, first place Allison Doepker, Grade 2,
third place. For grades 4‐6: Max Doepker, Grade 4,second place. For
grades 7‐9: Nicholas Schmitt, Grade 8, first place. The biggest surprise of
the afternoon was the award of Best of Show, which was presented to
Nathan Snizik, Grade 4. Nathan is now the youngest student to ever win

A Message From the Incarnation Cafe'
Friday, May 8th is the last day for charging on students' lunch accounts!
Beginning Monday, May 11th, students must have sufficient funds in their
account in order to purchase a lunch. Students will not be permitted to go
in the negative ! If they have insufficient funds in their account, they
will be offered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a milk.
4th Grade meets World War II Veteran
Colonel Alf Waggener (USAF, Ret.) is a WWII
veteran who spoke with 4th grade students
on Wednesday about his experiences as a
pilot. This was a wonderful opportunity for
students to learn first‐hand what it was like
to have served in that war. Students are
reading the novel, Stepping On The Cracks,
which takes place during WWII. Colonel
Waggener even showed them the medal he received from the French
government as a thank you for his service on D‐Day. And at 95 years
young, he is still able to wear his military uniform! Thank you, Alf, and
all our veterans, for your bravery and service to your country!
