"Incarnation Catholic School

Thank you, God!

Winner of The 2015
Innovations in
Education Award
Did you know that being in a "thankful" state is as good for you
as a primary child's healthy snack? Researchers are finding that
children who are grateful receive better grades, develop positive life
goals, complain less about stomach and head aches, and they feel
better about their friends. At this time of the year, I find so much
with which to be grateful! I'm especially grateful for the beautiful
excitement our children's sacramental preparation for First
Communion and Confirmation. Last Friday, all of the children who received First Communion
were able to come together as a class and be welcomed into our
community of believers. This Sunday, the eighth grade will be
recognized as full members of our Catholic Church with the sacrament
of Confirmation. We are so grateful for their prayerful acceptance
of these sacraments, and it reinforces my faith and the faith of their
families and parish community!
So, thank God for all you have and then: stop and smell the
roses, have positive thoughts, write a couple of thank you cards, stick
with grateful friends, and maybe keep a gratitude journal of at least
three good things that happen to you each day. What a great life!

Gospel Reading: John 15:9-17
After last week's metaphoric gospel reading about the vines and the branches, today's
passage continues the last discussion between Jesus and His disciples. The commandment is
simple in its focus, although not always so easy for us to carry out. We are to love one
another. Share the love you have for your faith and your children by attending Sunday Mass
together as a family. An overview of this week's readings may be found at the following web
site: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/051015.cfm. For our younger children, families may want
to visit the Catholic Moms' website (see Sunday's Gospel) at: http://catholicmom.com.

May 15th after the All School Mass. This year we will honor our long time,
very dedicated volunteer, Mrs. MaryBeth Horst. MaryBeth has been
involved with the PTO and Incarnation School for over 20 years! She has
served on many committees, led numerous homeroom driven events,
organized yearly functions and supported the Incarnation community. The volunteer breakfast will be held in the faculty lounge in the school.
Everyone who has volunteered during the school year is welcome to
attend. Hope to see you there!

Principal's Reports to
the Commissions
Last week, our sixth grade
crusaders developed their scientific
knowledge in our frog dissection lab! To
begin our unit, the students dissected a
frog on the SmartBoard using one of Mrs.
Kroger's favorite iPad applications. In
this way, the students became motivated
and prepared for the actual lab.
Following the iPad simulation activity,
the students explored the characteristics of different kinds of frogs to
distinguish our species for dissection from the others. Throughout the lab,
students are working with a partner to label the various organs and tissues
of their frog. This is always one of the most exciting times of the year
where students are able to apply their prior knowledge from the classroom
20142015 School Year
to an active learning exploration. School Mass to be held on Friday, May 15th.

World Language Week‐ May 11th ‐15th.
May 11‐15 is World Language Week at Incarnation! The world is a big
place with alot of people from different cultures who speak different
languages. Although English is a very important world language, it is
valuable to know another language so we can share and communicate
with other people in the world.
Incarnation school offers three different language options for their
students to learn...French, German, and Spanish. Our school is also made
up of students from many different cultures, and some even speak a
language other than English at home!
This week, we will celebrate our diversity during World Language Week.
Like different colors that come together to form a beautiful rainbow, we
are people from different cultures and backgrounds who come together to
form a wonderful community!
Each day, students and teachers can wear a different color of the rainbow
to show our "Unity through Diversity." Monday's color is red! Tuesday is
orange. Wednesday is yellow. Thursday is green and Friday is blue.
Enjoy World Language Week! Merci, Danke, Gracias!
