Message from Grand Knight:
Dear Brother Knights:
As we prepare ourselves for this Lenten season, I pray that we
can take some time and reflect on our misgivings throughout
the year and be willing to listen to what God’s will is and how
the Holy Spirit is guiding us to act. Sometimes the easiest
thing to do or the way we want to act is not in line with how
our conscience is telling us to behave. We all need to
remember that as Catholics, we are called to offer up all of our
actions in God’s name and for His Glory.
I want to invite all men in our community to join us for the
annual Father-Son Communion Breakfast. This is such a
special part of our history as a Catholic organization and a
wonderful way for fathers and sons to join in the Sacraments
of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist and then enjoy
fellowship with one another. So, whether you’ve participated
for many years or have never had the opportunity to attend, I
want all of you to know that we would love to have you attend
9:00 mass on March 22nd and then join us at the club for
breakfast and socializing.
Lastly, I would like to thank all members who helped with the
Steak Stag and Game dinner. Both events were huge
successes and required a lot of work and dedication. If you
would like to help with any of our upcoming events, feel free
to contact me personally or any other club officer for details.
We are always grateful for our brother Knights’ assistance
with our fundraising efforts.
I wish you and your families a blessed Lenten Season and a
very happy Easter. Charles Surano GK
76th ANNUAL COMMUNION BREAKFAST
This tradition was started to encourage
all fathers of the parish to go to

receive Communion with their sons
insuring that these fathers would fulfill
their EASTER DUTY obligation. The

of the Parish. So Fathers and Sons mark your calendar for
Sunday March 22, 2015 to attend the 9:00 AM Mass and This
year’s Father and Son Communion Breakfast. Tickets are
Advance $6.00 adults, $4.00 students. At door $7.00 adults ,

PLEASE call 724-588-3954 for advance tickets,
40 Cans for 40 Days Project is now underwy This
project aids local food pantries to
insure that the less fortunate members
of the community get much needed
help with nutritional needs.
We will again need help in
transporting the food to the
distribution centers at the “Good
Shepard Center”, and the “Jamestown
Food Pantry”, from collection points at our council home, and
the Gathering spaces at St. Michael and St. Margaret in
Jamestown. This only requires about 2 hours of your time
maybe 3 times during Lent. Please call 724.588.1952 to help
with this humanitarian project.
Did you know:
If you get into the bottom of a well or a tall chimney and look
up, you can see stars, even in the middle of the day.

Some people believe that ethics in business is a contradiction
in terms. They think that in order to be profitable, a company
and its leaders must abandon morality and embrace the dark,
greedy side that they see so often in the news and in movies..
At the Knights of Columbus, we know this isn’t true. A
business can be both ethical and successful. We are.
As a Catholic organization, we understand the value and
importance of our core beliefs and the original mission of
Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney. In fact, much of the
strength and financial security we provide to members and
their families can be attributed to our ethical, moral standards.
More than 96 percent of Knights who buy our life insurance
keep it, year in and year out. The Order takes this commitment
to our members very seriously. This means carefully planning
when it comes time to invest. Our professional staff researches
all transactions to insure that they fall in line with Catholic
values. If a transaction makes them uncomfortable, they don’t
make it.
“We exclude any company engaged in activity that conflicts
with Catholic moral teaching: companies directly involved in
abortion, contraception, human cloning, embryonic stem cell
research, for-profit health care that pays for any of these, or
pornography,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. “There
are many companies in the pharmaceutical and
communications industries that would undoubtedly provide
excellent returns for us, but which are not in our portfolio
because they engage in research and development or
programming in ways that violate the sanctity or dignity of
human life.”
In the end, the Knights of Columbus investment strategy is
motivated by morality, not money. Yet, each year we remain
profitable, increase our assets and stay dedicated to this vision
that will keep the Order financially sound for generations to
come.
But don’t just take our word for it. In 2014, the Knights of
Columbus was named a “World’s Most Ethical Company” by
the Ethisphere Institute. We were one of only two life
insurance companies to earn the honor.
“Faithful Catholics have choices when buying life insurance,”
said the Supreme Knight. “But they know that at the Knights
of Columbus their policy is supplied by an insurer that shares
their moral and ethical values and is guided in all of its
investment and sales practices by those values.”

this is a no cost no obligation service provided to you as one
