From the Desk of the Pastor
This Fourth Week of Advent gives us time for all
those last minute things we have been planning to do before
Christmas. No, not shop, party, shop and decorate! Pray, reflect, relax
and enjoy! In our first reading this weekend, from the Second Book of
Samuel, the Lord has given David rest from his enemies and settled
him into his palace. David, being like all of us, did not want to “rest”.
He wanted to start another project and build a temple to the Lord. God
rebuffs him and basically says, you cannot possibly give me anything!
Remember, God gives us all things and desires for us to remain in the
comfort and peace of His eternal love.
Have you gotten too busy preparing for Christmas to make room for
Christ? Have you tried frantically to shop your way to a “perfect
Christmas”? These next precious days of Advent are the final
opportunity to experience the peace God has intended for you. Don’t
make the mistake of rushing through this time! Be at peace. Welcome
God’s gift of peace, Christ the Infant. Give that true and lasting peace
to yourself and your family this Christmas!
Enjoy Advent Week IV!
Fr. Joe Keough
Parish meeting for our young people in grades 4-8 will
take place on Monday, December 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the
Church Hall. This is an opportunity to learn about your
parish and for your parish to learn about you. Parents
are welcome to attend!
Christmas Mass Schedule
Christmas Eve Masses will be celebrated at
4 p.m. (Children’s Mass) and 10:30 p.m.
in the church.
Masses for Christmas Day will be celebrated at
9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the church.
If you are traveling for Christmas, may you go with safety
and enjoy your time away! I hope you are received warmly
in the church where you will celebrate Christmas Mass. If
you are here with us for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day,
please extend the same welcome to our returning college
students, military personnel, family guests and visitors that
you would want to receive.

Adult Education is ongoing here at St. Mary!
This year, in conjunction with our RCIA program,
we are offering adult education classes on various
topics of the Catholic Faith. All parishioners are
invited to join our RCIA candidates to learn more
about the practices and beliefs of the Catholic
Church. Classes should last from 60 to 90 minutes.
Our next class will be on Wednesday December 22nd
at 7:00 PM in the Lower Rectory. The topic for the
evening will be “Mary and the Immaculate
Conception”.
See the Adult Education page on the parish website
for the planned schedule of topics. Contact Deacon
Jim if you have any questions.

The Virgin and Child
The Infinite One allowed himself into a finite space.
Went into our measured areas,
into top and bottom,
into small and large,
into life, into death.
He grows in its narrow confines,
the Lord of the universe.
The Unseen One, the One Not Able to Be Named
grows as flesh in a mother’s womb.
God comes out of himself.
He lets himself fall into humankind.
Contradiction, be silent!
Let us finish our thoughts in front of the manger,
so that we may begin the prayer of listening!
Amen.
