How soon after birth should a baby be presented for
the Sacrament of Baptism? The Catechism of the
Catholic Church says “as soon as possible after
birth”. In recent times parents have been waiting 6
months to a year. When your child is born your
child’s material needs are immediate; food,
clothes, warmth, shelter and care. Are not the
child’s spiritual needs just as important! Through
Baptism Original sin is taken away and the beautiful
life of God, the Father, God the Son and God the
Holy Spirit (Sanctifying Grace) can come to dwell
in your newly born child. Why do parents wait so
long to do this? It should be as the Church says as
soon as possible after birth.
Bible Study
Meeting nights have changed.
The Bible study group will now
meet on the second and fourth
Wednesdays of the month at 7:00PM in the school
with John Regan.
Next Meetings are on
Wednesdays, January 14 and 28, 2015.
Men of St. Joseph
Join us and pray with us!
St. Joan's Men of St. Joseph group for adult men of
ALL ages, under the guidance and leadership of
Mr. Steve Nolan, is having its next meeting on
Saturday, February 14, 2015, starting with Mass
at 8:00 AM followed by coffee/donuts and a
meeting in the school ending at 10:00 AM. Our
meetings have been well attended, and we look
forward to bringing more of our parish men
together. The group meets on the 2nd Saturday of
each month. You can also contact the following:

Annual Collection
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GIVE!
The Annual Collection started in October
and is at 86% of its $90,000 goal. I can’t
emphasize enough how important this
collection is for the viability and future of
our parish. As it was resolved last year
when we had our increased giving
campaign, we can no longer use our
operating funds for necessary capital
improvement projects because it sets the
stage for deficit spending. Those who have
given so far have given generously and
sacrificially because St. Joan’s Parish is an
important part of their lives. Our parish
buildings have to be kept in good repair if
we are going to have a place to meet, pray
and worship. Please, if you have not given
yet to the Annual Collection, decide on a
gift today and insure the future of your
parish.
