FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Deuteronomy 18:15-20
Moses explains to the people that a prophet will
come from among them, and that they should
listen to this prophet’s words, for God has told
him of this prophet. God also tells Moses that
anyone who pretends to speak in his words, or
speaks in the name of other gods shall die.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:32-35
Paul tells the Corinthians how an unmarried man
or woman is able to devote themselves fully to
God without concern for the needs of a spouse.
Paul explains that God wants to help them
promote good and devote themselves more fully
to God.
Gospel: Mark 1:21-28
As Jesus was teaching, a man with an unclean
spirit came to the synagogue and asked if Jesus
had come to destroy them. Jesus ordered the
spirit out of the man, who shrieked violently as
the spirit departed. The people were amazed at
the authority he had over the spirit.

Mrs. Susan Tarrant, Principal
faithFULL Food Drive 2015
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells us that
whenever we feed the least of our brothers
and sisters, we feed Jesus himself. At this
time of the year, many food pantries find
themselves with empty shelves while the
requests for food are still great.
In response, the Diocese of Camden is
organizing its second annual faithFULL Food
Drive. On Sunday, March 1, every parish and
school in the diocese will be asked to bring
food donations to area food banks. For more
information, contact your faith community’s
food drive point
person, and
visit
www.camdendiocese.org/faithfull.
HOUSE OF CHARITY
BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I
am earnestly asking you for your sacrificial
offering to the 2015 House of Charity - Annual
Bishop's Appeal. Our parish's assigned goal for
this year is $55,660. If we reach the goal, 10%
of the goal and 75% of the amount above the
goal will be returned to the parish as we did last
year. The funds received in the House of Charity
will be used to support the ministries of Social &
Community
Services,
Evangelization
and
Compassionate Outreach, Care and Education
of Seminarians and Care of Elderly Priests,
Needy Parishes, Youth Ministry and Campus
Ministry.
The above ministries cannot be sustained
without your financial sacrifices. In giving to the
House of Charity, you are manifesting the
magnitude of your love for God and the least of
Jesus' brothers and sisters, in this sense, you are
truly blessed. As Jesus says: "Blessed are the
poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven.'" Indeed any giving, sharing, or
sacrificing is an act of unselfishness and thus
"poor in spirit".
On behalf of Our Lady Star of the Sea
Parish, I am earnestly and gratefully asking you
again for your support of the House of Charity.
Whatever gift decision you make will be a
profound sacrifice to God and His needy people.
Your financial offering will be used and gone;
but God the Father who sees in secret will
repay you. Since: "...when I was hungry you
gave me food, when I was thirsty you give me
drink, when I was naked you clothed me, when I
was a stranger you welcomed me, when I was in
prison and you visited me. . ."
Please make check payable to House of
Charity -- Bishop's Annual Appeal. You may
drop it in the collection at any weekend Mass,
drop it at the Rectory or mail it to the Rectory.
Again, I am profoundly grateful to you for your
sacrifice and your willingness to support the
2015 House of Charity - Bishop's Annual
Appeal.
May God see your generous heart, and
reward you a hundredfold in heaven.
With profound gratitude and prayers,
Father Joseph Pham
