But God raised him from the dead as had been prophesied. Therefore, all people should believe and turn to God, that their sins might be forgiven. Second Reading: I John 2:1-5a Jesus was offered up for the sins of the world. The only way to prove true faith in him, is to honor his commandments. Anyone who claims to believe, yet does not keep his word, does not truly believe. Gospel: Luke 24:35-48 Jesus appeared to two disciples, though at first they feared he was a ghost. Jesus ate with them to prove he was not a ghost. He explained that he had fulfilled the prophets words about him. He also explained that in his name they must preach doing penance for the forgiveness of sins Third Sunday of Easter Sunday Acts 3:13-15, 17-19; 1 Jn 2:1-5a; Lk 24:35-48 Monday Acts 6:8-15; Jn 6:22-29 Tuesday Acts 7:51—8:1a; Jn 6:30-35 Wednesday Acts 8:1b-8; Jn 6:35-40 Thursday Acts 8:26-40; Jn 6:44-51 Friday Acts 9:1-20; Jn 6:52-59 Saturda y 1 Pt 5:5b-14; Mk 16:15-20 Sunday Acts 4:8-12; 1 Jn 3:1-2; Jn 10:11-18 Please return your Rice Bowls ASAP Collection Baskets are in the Church or bring them to the Parish Office St. Catherine of Bologna Online Giving Parishioner Benefits • No need for checks • Financial planning allows you to align your paychecks with your parish offertory schedule • Contribution amount is easily adjusted • Credit card option allows you to take advantage of any benefits such as airline miles or cash bonuses Parish Benefits • No check processing fees • Increases regular giving with recurring contributions • More accurate revenue forecasting • Reaches a wider demographic of givers Please understand that Online Giving is not intended to replace the traditional act of Sunday offertory, rather it is meant to enhance it. William J. Reilly Third Sunday of Easter April 19, 2015 “Now I know brothers that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did, but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer. Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away.” I might be inclined to ask ‘Is this the same Peter we met in the patio who denied His Lord and Savior, just a few weeks ago?’ ’What enabled him to change from fear and cowardice to speak boldly about the Paschal mystery?’ The answer is his experience of the Risen Christ and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Like the Emmaus disciples our eyes too are to be opened to the words He spoke to us while He was with us. The words of Moses and the prophets and the psalms were fulfilled. Our minds are to be opened to understand the scriptures. How exciting it was for them to listen to Peter’s great sermon and be moved to repentance and conversion. The formation of missionary disciples follows these four steps: 1) A personal relationship with Jesus., 2) Conversion to Him., 3) Acceptance of His teaching., 4) Being sent as was Peter to speak of Christ. Catechesis is step three, step one in Peter’s announcement. 4 REGISTRATION FOR FROG, Faithful FROG, F3, and IROC 2015-2016 school year!
