MAY ISSUE - SEW WHAT’S NEW?" Sew What’s New? A Message from Your President Sue Stewart Wow it’s hard to believe the guild year is almost over, but my calendar says it is nearly here. I believe the guild has really grown in talent and innovation this year. We have a wonderful pool of amazing quilters, of all ages, which makes our guild’s Show and Tell really fun and interesting. Our membership is very generous with time, resources and a willingness to supply needs whenever asked. This is evidenced by the hundreds of Quilties that have been donated over the last 2 years to the Almonte General Hospital. And let’s not forget all the charity quilts that have been fashioned with care this past year and a whole lot of fun at our monthly Quilt-ins. Thanks to all the members who have made this year a rousing success! And last but not least a big thanks to our executive without whom we could not accomplish so much. Have a great summer and be ready to come back in September full of ideas and with lots of new quilts to show us all. Quilt In The next Quilt In for guild members will be held Thursday, May 21st at Textile Traditions from 1-4pm If you are looking to work on some charity quilts Dianne Bertrand will be bringing strips that could be sewn together for guild charity quilts. *Please know that you can come and stay for as long or as little as you like. You are not required to stay for the full 3 hours. Canada’s 150th Birthday It might still feel like a long ways away but in 2017 our beautiful country will celebrate its 150th Birthday! The Executive would love for our guild to participate by creating a quilt together to commemorate this special occasion. We were thinking of highlighting Almonte and its rich history. So put on your thinking caps, tap into your creative juices and in the fall we would love to hear your ideas and inspirations so that we can brainstorm together and get the ball rolling! Raffle Don’t forget to bring some extra money this month to buy tickets for the guild raffle. Tickets are sold one for $2 or three for $5. The winner will be drawn at our May meeting. Name Tags!!! For those who ordered name tags they will be ready for pick up on Monday night at our meeting. Can you please bring $6.05 in exact change, that would help our membership ladies out immensely.
