Guidance notes
Below are some guidance notes which will help you successfully complete your risk
assessment form.
Step 1 – Identify your hazards
In this section, you need to list any potential hazards that you may have on your stall. This
may include: table, furniture, stock, liquids, food (if you're serving food), money, banners,
and rubbish. You need to identify any potential hazards and then follow through the other
procedures below.
Step 2 – Indicate who could be affected
Here you need to indicate who is at risk, either yourself, your staff, venue staff, contractors
or the general public.
Step 3 – Evaluate the level of risk
Level of risk is either high / medium / low – please see notes accompanying risk
assessment. You ned to evaluate the level of risk for each hazard identified.
Step 4 – Precautions / controls taken



Can the hazard or risk be removed completely or the method of working be done in
a different way
If the risk cannot be eliminated, can it be controlled?
Can protective measures be taken that protect the entire workforce on site?
Step 5 – Further action required to reduce risk
Is there anything else that you can do to minimise the risk, or indeed deal with the hazard
should it occur (for instance, should spillage occur, do you have correct cleaning materials
on hand to deal with the potential hazard?)
Step 6 – Final level of risk
This should indicate the level of risk following implementation of precautions and any
further actions to reduce risk – your final level of risk should be low.
