NEW MASS TIMES FOR WEEKDAY AND SUNDAYS
The Bishop's Council agreed to a change in the Mass schedule at St Wilfrid's which will come into
effect on the First Sunday of Advent, 29th/30th November 2014. Sunday Masses will be at 6.15pm
on Saturday evening and on Sunday morning at 8.30am (Quiet Mass), 10.30am (Parish Mass for
Families) and 12 noon (Sung Mass in the Extraordinary Form). On Sunday evenings there will be
Sung Latin Vespers at 6pm followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The new weekday
Mass schedule is already in effect. There is Mass at 8am on Monday and at 12.10pm from Monday
to Saturday preceded by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Confessions and followed by
Rosary or Devotions. There is still a Mass at 10am on Saturday morning in the Shrine of St Margaret
Clitherow. There is also Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during confessions from 10.45am until
12 noon on Saturday mornings and from after the 12.10pm Mass until 2pm on Thursday afternoon.
Thank you very much to all those who took the time and trouble to respond to the consultation.
Copies of the report on the consultation are available to take away and the replies have been put in
a folder in the church porch for parishioners to read.
TALKS ON THE NEW TRANSLATION
Fr Mark will give the first of his talks on the new translation of the Mass on Tuesday 21st October at
7pm. The first talk is entitled The Word is made flesh – the role of language in God’s dealings
with us. Its importance and its limitations.
LEGION OF MARY
The first meeting of the Praesidium of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs will meet at 2pm on Tuesday, 21st
October in the Upper Room and at the same time each week after that.
SPUC COFFEE MORNING
On Saturday 25th October York SPUC is holding a Coffee and Cake morning in the Upper Room
from 10am - 12.30pm. The date has been chosen to mark the 47th Anniversary of Royal Assent
being given to the Abortion Act. Perhaps you could help by baking a cake or giving an hour of your
time to help with serving and washing up. If you can do either of these things, please get in touch

for the success of this event and the work done by SPUC to defend human life from conception to

Ascent a group for older people meets in the Upper Room at 12.45pm on the last
