Dear Parishioners:
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of
the Universe. With this celebration we bring the season of
Ordinary Time to a close and prepare to begin the Season of
Advent this coming Saturday evening. A new liturgical year
begins with the First Sunday of Advent, which means
Christmas is not far behind!
But, in the mean time, as we celebrate this feast of Christ our
King, it helps us to understand who Jesus was in his earthy
life, and who he is now in the kingdom of heaven. When
looking back into the life of Jesus of Nazareth, we see that his
kingship was not like any other. He received his crown, but
it was a crown of thorns. He never sat in a throne, but rather
sat among sinners and ate with them. And in the gospel this
weekend, he tell us how to serve him: by feeding the hungry,
giving drink to the thirsty, visiting those who are imprisoned,
giving clothing to the naked, caring for the sick. Today, we
look to Jesus as our savior and our king, who reigns in
heaven and on earth and who’s kingdom is without end.
May we always strive to build up that kingdom here on
earth and that we enjoy forever the kingdom of heaven in the
world to come.
As we hear the words of the gospel this weekend, we cannot
help to think how appropriate these words are as we prepare
to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. We all have so much to be
thankful for, especially the gift of our faith.
Here at
Immaculate Conception, there are so many good and faithful
people who do so much for so many. May God bless you for
your goodness and kindness. It would be impossible to thank
everyone here for all they do, but I would like to take this
opportunity to thank one person in particular for the many,
many years of service to our parish family. Sue Nolan, who
introduced herself to me upon my arrival here 5 ½ years ago
as the “bib lady”, has worked and ministered to so many for
years here at Immaculate. For 25 years, Sue has hand sewn
the bibs that were given to babies at their baptismal
ceremony here in our parish. You have touched many lives in
your service to children you have never met, but given of your
time and talent looking for nothing in return. Although Sue
can no longer provide this service, she deserves a great big
“Thank You” from all of us here.
A happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all of you!
Sincerely in the Lord,
Fr. Joe
P.S. No better way to start Thanksgiving Day than by coming
to Mass and thanking God for all we have and all we are.
Hope you can join us.

here at Immaculate Conception for the

parish shares our beautiful church and outstanding acoustics with
the community at large. Even better were the over 30 parishioners who were also in attendance! We would like to remind all

for this concert season and as a special incentive for parishioners,
we are offering a 10% discount on all donor levels! A minimum

complimentary ticket to all remaining performances, including
the ever popular NJ Choral Society Christmas themed concert

“….as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me”
–Matthew 25:40
Most of us are generous when it’s convenient for us. We are
generous when we have the time or the money. But, generosity
is the opposite of that. It means giving of one’s time, money,
compassion, forgiveness, mercy when it’s not convenient; when
it’s not on our schedule, but on the other person’s schedule.

Guidelines for Stewardship suggest contributing 5% of weekly
income to parish support, and 5% to other charities (e.g.,
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal). Thank you for your continued
support of your parish. If you are not already doing so, please use
your envelopes each week — only contributions in your numbered
envelope (or an envelope indicating your name/address & #) or EDebit are recorded for documentation required by the IRS.
Please contact Marcie Alexander at the Parish Office if you are
not receiving contribution envelopes.
Some people think that we should give until it hurts. However, true
stewards give until it feels right. Our giving feels right when we
know that we can stand before God when He comes in His glory
and say to Him, “Lord, I gave all that You asked me to give.”

Annual Appeal Making a Difference
“When I Called, You Answered”. Making a Difference—It is difficult to imagine children and their families spending Thanksgiving out
on the street without a safe and warm place to sleep.

by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
For over 100 years, Catholic Charities has provided
relief to so many families within the our counties it serves. Catholic
Charities operates seven shelters which provide a safe, caring, respectful and dignified refuge for our homeless brothers and sisters. Your
support of the Annual Appeal makes a meaningful difference in the
lives of those served by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of

Charities is able to continue their tradition of compassion and concern
for each individual who walks through their door. To learn more
