Building the right space Over the course of the last few months we have been starting to consider the future needs for the space we have and the way it is used. In many ways we are blessed with an amazing modern building which changes function and format many times each week to serve the needs of the Church body and the local community. However, over time, as you'd expect, needs change and with that in mind we are starting to consider ways in which we can adapt and potentially add to the space we have in order to better serve God and our various communities. If you are interested in finding out more please contact Martyn Hicks 9am (martyn.hicks@yahoo.co.uk) or Mike Oxford (Mike.Oxford@Sealedair.com) 11am service. The PCC’s primary role is, with the vicar, to ‘consult together on matters of general concern and importance to the parish’ and to ‘cooperate in promoting in the parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical.’ If you think God may be calling you, please see the Nomination Forms (back of the worship area or download from the website), speak to Rob, or speak to anyone currently on PCC (ask a member of staff or see the website for who these people are). Nominations are required by April 19th, but it would help from an administrative point of view if they could be with the Church Office by the morning of Friday 17th. There are also 2 places available on Deanery Synod, which gives an automatic place on PCC. It would be great to have a broad range of age, gender and experience. If you know someone who you think would make a great PCC member, why not encourage them to stand? Alpha Know someone who is curious about Christianity, has questions or wants to renew their faith? Services of Baptism and Confirmation: 21st June Have you become a Christian quite recently but never been baptised? Baptism is a great way of marking your commitment to Jesus publicly, and will encourage you in your walk with the Lord. Were you baptised (you may have called it ‘christening’) as a child but the Christian faith has now become real and personal to you? Confirmation is a way of renewing the promises made then on your behalf, celebrating the faithfulness of God in bringing you to faith in Jesus and receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit on your life. I have recently returned from Dancu – one of Breadline’s partners in Moldova http://www.breadlinemoldova.org/. As a result, I am collecting good quality toys to send to families with children with disabilities - no cuddly toys or books with English writing on, but toys that will develop skills and imagination, such as jigsaws, building bricks, posting boxes, cars, dolls etc. I am also collecting materials for making clothes: thread, zips, buttons and wool for knitting - and brass instruments for a youth band! Any medical items such as bandages/dressings etc can be used by Emmanuel Clinic. There will be a box in the welcome area with “Moldova” labels on, or if you would like to contact me direct its 01536461792 or diacaster@talktalk.net, It costs £1.50 per kilo to send items over, so any donations to help cover that cost would be gratefully received.
